Visitation for Nelda Ann Pyle, 73, of Chico, Texas will be Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas, from 2pm to 4pm. Nelda passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She was born April 25, 1946 in Ranger, Texas to Freddie Gray, Sr. and Ellen (Warr) Cowley. Nelda grew up in the Panhandle, but she graduated from Chico High School. On June 10, 1964 she married Gary Lee Pyle in Crafton, Texas. They established there first home in Chico.
Nelda then moved to Brazoria and worked as a Nursing Aide at West Columbia Hospital. Through the years she worked at Texas Instruments in Dallas, West Columbia Hospital, Mr. H’s Grocery, the Bridgeport Hospital, and for the Chico Independent School District.
Nelda had lots of hobbies, reading, quilting, sewing, needle point, and Hallmark ornaments. When she was at home, she enjoyed watching several favorite shows, but mostly Hallmark movies, talking and visiting with friends and family. Nelda like to dress up for Halloween with Miss Sharla for many years, and she Loved Christmas! She was a great baker however the family really enjoyed her Peanut Brittle, Coconut Cream Pie, and other treats she made at Christmas time and special occasions.
Nelda is survived by her daughter Sarah Zamora and husband David of Corpus Christi; siblings Mary Bellar and husband Ken of Amarillo, Texas, David Gray and Glenda Gray of Mesquite, Texas, Craig Cowley of Chico, four grandchildren Dustin Witcher and wife Ashley, Justin Zamora and wife Kassie, Crystal Perez and husband Pete, Alexis Zamora, and great-grandchildren Bailey Salinas, Megan Perez, Joseph Perez, Damien Zamora, and Dylan Zamora. Sister-in-Law Lorene Gray of Amarillo. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and friends that were like family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-father James Cowley; Sister Mona Beth Gray; Brother Freddie Gray, Jr.; and husband Gary in January of 2008.
