Obituary of Fred Herbert Ray III
A memorial service for Fred Herbert Ray III, 68, of Bridgeport, Texas will be 3:00 pm Friday, September 6, 2019 at Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church in Bridgeport, officiated by Rev. Lenda Tedder. Fred passed away Wednesday, August 28 in Bridgeport.
Fred was born February 25, 1951 in Haskell, Texas to Fred H. Ray Jr. and Pauline (Wheeler) Ray. On November 22, 1980 he married his wife of 38 years, Michele (Watts) Ray, in Abilene, Texas. He was a member of the Twin Oaks Assembly of God Church.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from McMurry University. For years he was an enrolled agent with the IRS; that position took him all over the world. In 2000, he and Michele settled in Bridgeport. Until an illness caused his early retirement in 2016 he owned and managed Fred Ray Tax Service in Bridgeport.
Fred loved playing with his children and grandchildren, and enjoyed going camping with his family. He was always looking for a good opportunity to make someone laugh. Fred was the greatest dad ever to his children and was the love of Michele’s life.
Fred is survived by his spouse Michele, four children, one brother, seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and sister.
