Obituary of James Lloyd Marlett
A Funeral service for James Lloyd Marlett, 79, of Paradise, Texas will be Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 1:30 pm at First Baptist Church in Cottondale, officiated by Pastor Charles Pugh. Burial will follow at Cottondale Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, October 7, 2019 from 5-7 pm at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. James passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019 in Paradise.
He was born on October 22, 1939 in Decatur to James Vance and Ida Mae (Woods) Marlett. James married his wife of 57 years, Irene on July 19, 1962 in Blythe, California.
James really enjoyed life. He liked sports, golfing, fishing, hunting, and wood working. He had a Silver Smith degree from Mohave Community College. James was a Ford sales manager and salesman. He was a huge car buff. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and never missed a game. James loved the Lord.
He was survived by his wife Irene of Paradise; daughters Jamie Marlett of Casa Grande, Arizona and Janet and husband Dr. David Holmes of Denton, Texas; son James Marlett Jr. and wife Lynn of Northlake, Texas; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; aunt Sibyl Arrington and husband Wimpy of Bridgeport; sister-in-law Jenny Bramlett of Paradise; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James is preceded in death by his parents.
