Obituary of Glenn Williamson

A memorial service for Glenn Williamson, 73, of Bridgeport, Texas will be 11:00 am, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Victory Baptist Church in Sunset, Texas, officiated by Rev. Carry King. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, one hour prior to the service. Mr. Williamson passed away Sunday, December 15 in Decatur.

Glenn was born January 11, 1946 in McAdoo, Texas to Guy and Nora B. (Smith) Williamson.

He began his career as a diesel mechanic and over the years worked as a truckdriver.

Glenn loved to cook, whether outdoors on the grill or in the kitchen. Sometimes experimenting with recipes was something he felt he just had to do, and sometimes those experiments actually worked … sometimes not. The family tried to hide the sage spice from him after the first year the Thanksgiving dressing was a little too green in color. Even the dogs wouldn’t eat it. And once while camping at Texoma, Glenn and Doyle ate all of the eggs. He tried to substitute fish eggs, and couldn’t understand why no one volunteered to try his concoction.

He also loved working in his vegetable garden, but especially loved spending time with his grandbabies.

Glenn leaves behind sons Kenny Williamson and wife Jody of Bridgeport, and Gary Williamson of Bridgeport; daughter Becky Phariss and husband Keith of Runaway Bay, Texas; brothers Howard Williamson and wife Dorothy of Bridgeport, Tom Williamson of Jacksboro, Texas, and Neal Williamson of Denton, Texas; and sister Jane Williamson of Decatur, Texas; grandchildren Todd Williamson, Josh Williamson, Zac Phariss, Mark Williamson, Tiffany Williamson, and Brittany Williamson; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene Williamson, sister Alice Mitchell, and brother Wayne Williamson.
