This hit me hard tonight. This post of Barry’s passing came across my Facebook feed shared by a mutual friend. I met Barry at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson a long time ago and even though I really only got to know him for about a year. He made a lasting impression on me. He always had a smile on his face and he always greeted me with a handshake. He was always laughing and wanted to make others laugh.
Though time and distance had separated us...there were times I would think about Barry and wonder where he was and how he was doing. When reading his obituary...I could see him doing everything it said he did.
Recently he came up in a conversation between me and my wife (who went to high school with him) and I now wish I would have taken the time to slow down and try to find him.
Barry, even though we only had a short time in each other’s lives. You made a lasting impression on me and you will always be remembered for your smile, your laugh and your genuine love for people.
Prayers of peace and strength to his wife, son and family.

Barry was always so kind. I rarely recall him without a smile. When my daughter was very young, she would try to say “Mr. Barry”, but it came out “Strawberry”. Barry just laughed, and said he loved it. What a beautiful soul this world has lost. Heaven is sweeter today, for sure. We will miss you, Strawberry.
