James Lee Solomon of Bridgeport, Texas passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 in Bridgeport at the age of 80. A private service will be held at a later date. James was born January 30, 1939 in Harlington, Texas to parents James Milton Solomon and wife Laura Mae (Bland) Solomon. He served his country in the US Army from 1961-1963. Originally from Denton, Texas, he worked for the University of North Texas in Denton as a plumber’s helper for 29 years, until his retirement in 2003. James loved to sing, and even cut a record of a song that he wrote himself. He sang that song, “I Cross My Heart, I Really Love You” at a talent show at the Wise County Museum. He had a gift for doing impersonations and could impressively copy the voices of Elvis Presley and Hank Williams. Besides spending time with family, he loved to fish and spend time with animals. He seldom went to the doctor, but once his daughter Holly convinced him to go. Upon examination, doctors immediately admitted him into the hospital because he had double pneumonia! He was survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy (Crouch) Solomon of Bridgeport; son Leo D. Solomon of Bridgeport; daughters Teresa Holder and husband Doug of Valley View, Texas, Holly Solomon of Lake Dallas, Texas, and Polly Martinez and husband Jerry of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren Amanda, Stephen and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Kylie, Caleb, and Jasper; brothers Raymond and Daniel; and sisters Janice and Wilma. James was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Eugene Solomon.
