Obituary of Howard Williamson

Alan Howard Williamson, Sr. of Bridgeport, Texas passed away April 4, 2020 surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer.

Born April 11, 1942 in McAdoo, Texas to Guy and Nora (Smith)Williamson. He married Dorothy Garner December 23, 1961 in Post, Texas and shared fifty-eight years of life together.

He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Nora and four siblings. Arthur Eugene Williamson, Alice Fern Mitchell, Clifford Wayne Williamson and Alfred Glenn Williamson.

Howard spent fifty-four years in the trucking industry as a driver and eventually became an owner/operator. In 1998 he created Dorothy Williamson Trucking, managing and operating daily operations until 2019.

His main love was family and work, working tirelessly to provide for his family.

Howard leaves behind his wife Dorothy of Bridgeport, Son Alan, Jr. and his wife Sheri Williamson of Decatur, and Daughter Carolyn and husband Chuck Furr of Bridgeport. Eight grandchildren; Jeffrey and wife Tiffany McGuire, Alan H Williamson III (Trey), Jason McGuire, Angela and husband Tim Striker, Jennifer and husband Matt Schmidt, Ashley and husband Jonathan Gomez, Arthur Williamson, and Jessica McGuire. He also leaves behind twenty-three great grandchildren and three siblings Ester Jane Williamson, Kenneth Neal Williamson, and Thomas Houston Williamson. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews along with great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Eastside Cemetery in Bridgeport. Rev Carrie King will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Alan Williamson, Jr, Arthur Williamson, Jeff McGuire, Matt Schmidt, Mike Mitchell and Keith Phariss. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Derrington, Billy Garner, Jerry Murrell and Jason McGuire.
