Obituary of Lois Collins

A graveside service for immediate family will be held at Chico Cemetery at 10:00 am Monday, July 20, 2020 for Lois Marie Collins, 87, of Chico, Texas, officiated by Rev. Mike Miller. Lois passed away Thursday, July 16 in The Colony, Texas. There will also be a Memorial Service held at a later date.

Lois was born February 16, 1933 in Chico to J.V. and Mary Elizabeth (Chambers) Ogle.

On April 24, 1957 Lois married J.W. 'John' Collins. They were the first couple to get married in the newly built Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico. They became engaged on Lois’ birthday, and married on his. The couple were lifelong members of the church.

The majority of her career was spent as a tax accountant, a job she truly loved. In fact, she was preparing taxes for 56 years. She loved working with numbers because ‘numbers never lie’.

Lois was a well-rounded individual who enjoyed baking, working in the garden and remodeling, but was equally adept at knocking out walls and being the go-to person for anything that needed fixing.

She is survived by daughters Annet Warzwick and husband Fred of Denton, Texas, and Teresa Broadbent and husband Stewart of The Colony; grandchildren Fredrick Warzwick, Blake Broadbent and Katy Broadbent.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents J.V. and Mary Ogle, husband John Collins, and brother David Guinn Ogle, who died at nine years old as a result of the polio epidemic of the early 1940s.

If so inclined in lieu of flowers, you may donate in Lois Collins honor to The Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico, Texas.
