Obituary of Bobby Ishmael

Services for Bobby Ishmael, 80, of Runaway Bay, Texas will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 23, 2021 at The Bay Community Church, officiated by Pastor Ollin Collins. Masks are required, and the church will furnish masks. Burial will follow in Eternal Oaks Cemetery at Runaway Bay. Pallbearers are Mike Howard, Clyde Parris, Roland Ray, Deke Erwin, Jesse Lockhart, and Pat Bromwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby’s golfing buddies. Bobby passed away Tuesday, January 19 in Decatur.

Bobby was born July 31, 1940 in Greenville, Texas to John and Genevieve (Phelps) Ishmael.

He was an entrepreneur, owning several grocery stores, a golf shop, a bar, and a laundromat, to name a few.

Bobby was a loving husband, father, and Papaw. He loved to play golf, and enjoyed greatly watching his grandsons play sports.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jackie (Strawn) Ishmael of Runaway Bay; son Michael Ishmael and wife Andrea of Paradise; grandchildren John Tyler and wife Johnna, and Jack Ishmael; sister Audrey Hensley, and Nelda Ishmael, both of Garland, Texas; sister-in-law Verna McAllister and Jack of Rowlett, Texas; brother-in-law Curtis Strawn and wife Jane of Justin, Texas; and Ginger Ray Strawn of Garland; and numerous other family and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Duane Ishmael, and sister Joyce Dobbins.
