Obituary of Charles Duke
Services for Charles Jerry Duke, 79, of Chico, Texas will be 2:00 pm Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Zion Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chico, officiated by Pastor Barney Hudson. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery #3, near the church. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Wednesday, March 10 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Charles passed away Sunday, March 7 in Decatur, Texas.
He was born January 1, 1942 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Eddie Marvin Duke and wife Vadie Lee (Garner) Duke. Charles married the love of his life, Bowyema Linda Bailey on June 11, 1976 in Oklahoma.
Charles was a plant manager in Dallas for Overwraps Inc. until his retirement at 50 years of age. He and wife Linda owned Three Oaks Restaurant in Bridgeport.
He was a workaholic, according to family, and when he wasn’t working in Dallas, he could be found helping anyone with anything. He was a kind man who never met a stranger, and made friends easily. He was a cattle raiser in his spare time.
Charles is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Duke of Chico; sister Sarah Christine Davis of Camden, Arkansas; grandchildren April Nicole Clark of Springtown, Texas, Lindsey Jo Lion of Arkansas, and Shelby Fox of Fort Worth, Texas; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Donald Jerry Duke, Charles Randal Duke, and Randy Dean Douglas, and brother Eddie Marvin Duke, Jr.
