Obituary of Myrtle Faye Slonaker

Graveside services for Myrtle Faye Slonaker, 82, of Chico, Texas will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Chico Cemetery.  Visitation will be 6-8 pm Monday, April 12 at Hudson and Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport. She passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021 in Decatur.

Faye was born June 21, 1938 to Fred and Avis (Sumerall) Baxter in Hico, Texas. She married Roy Douglas Slonaker in May of 1957 in Cleburne, Texas. Faye was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

She was a kind, gentle, caring mother, and Nana.  Faye was the rock of the family. She was an avid collector of ceramic frogs and birds; she had more than could be on display at one time. Faye was also a volunteer and board member of the Chico Public Library for many years. She loved creating window displays to delight the community, and she was a frequent chaperone of FCCLA students at Chico High School.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Louise Perry, and brothers Samuel and Wesley Baxter. 

She is survived by daughters Freddie Triplett of Bridgeport, Rhonda Lowry and husband Rob of Chico; sons Lee Slonaker and wife Michelle of Chico, Daniel Baxter and wife Vicki of Garland, Texas, and Chris Baxter and wife Julie of Garland; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other friends and family.
