Obituary of Gladys F. Pewitt

A memorial service for Gladys F. Pewitt, 70, of Paradise, Texas will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport, officiated by Brother Scott Strother. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday, April 23, also at the funeral home. Gladys passed away Friday, April 16 in Denton, Texas.

She was born May 19, 1950 in Olney, Texas to Thomas Fred Gilley and Willie Fay (Hall) Gilley. After graduating from Bridgeport High School in 1968, Gladys married the love of her life Jerry Pewitt on October 2, 1970. 

Gladys was an excellent seamstress and successfully sewed for the public for many years. Through the years she created everything from baby linens to formal gowns, as well as many exquisite quilts. 

Traveling was always a priority with Jerry and Gladys, the couple explored all 50 US states, all Provinces in Southern Canada as well as several other countries. 

She enjoyed gardening and camping. She looked forward to annual camping trips that included all of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. 

She leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Jerry Pewitt of Paradise; children Paula Rutledge and husband Eric of Paradise, Calvin Pewitt and wife Tammy of Lorena, Texas, and Jeff Pewitt and wife Michelle of Bridgeport, siblings Beth Andreasen of Bridgeport, Tommie Jo Underwood and husband Von of Paradise, and Noel Gilley and wife Teri of Paradise; grandchildren Taylor and Allie Rutledge, Shayna Rivas and husband Preston, Zachary and Conner Pewitt, Brandon Dickson, Mario and Fay Pewitt; and great-grandchildren Keydan and Kaislye Rivas. 

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents.
