Obituary of Betty Shurbet
Services for Betty Jean Shurbet, 87, of Paradise, Texas will be 10:00 am Friday, August 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Cottondale, officiated by Pastor Charles Pugh. Burial will follow in Paradise Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Lambert, Don Meadows, Brendan Sibley, Casey Nocks, Brice Shurbet, Jesse Cunningham, and Jett Cunningham. Honorary pallbearer is Aubrie Sibley. Visitation will be from 9-10 am Friday, also at the church, one hour prior to the service. Betty passed away Saturday, July 31 in McKinney.
She was born January 18, 1934 in Bridgeport, Texas to Marion Franklin Jones and Ruby Faye (Gibbs) Jones. Betty married Jessie Brice Shurbet on August 13, 1949.
Betty leaves behind her daughters Lorri Opperman of Flower Mound, Texas, Jana Sibley and husband Drew of Bluffdale, Texas, and Shannon Cunningham of Frisco, Texas; sons J.B. Shurbet of Galveston, Texas, and Jeff Shurbet of Tennessee Colony, Texas, and sisters Lucy Meadows of Paradise, and Pat Lambert and husband Cliff of Paradise; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Gerald ‘Satch’ Jones, and sisters Coylene Jones and infant twins.
