Obituary of Louise Huckabee
She was born on May 13, 1924 in Atlanta, Louisiana, the middle child of eleven children, to William Edward Shumake and wife Lena Belle (Barton) Shumake.
She was a strong young woman who came to Grand Prairie, Texas after being recruited to make airplane parts for B-24s to aid the war efforts.
Louise married Richard Allen ‘Don’ Huckabee in Handley, Texas on May 23, 1944 and remained married until his passing on April 8, 1973.
She was a lifetime member of Cates Street Church of Christ in Bridgeport and remained faithful all her life.
She leaves behind children Doug Huckabee of Bridgeport, Danny Huckabee of Bridgeport, and Susie Relf and husband Alan of Irving, Texas; stepson Charlie Huckabee of Glen Rose, Texas; sisters Babe and Cheri; brothers Bobby and Jimmy; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband.
